About Sabrina Bruce

Sabrina Bruce served the nation for twelve years, from 2013 to 2025. First in the Air Force, then as one of the first enlisted members of the U.S. Space Force. A cyber warfare specialist, she completed assignments across Africa, the United Kingdom, and South Korea, helping protect satellites worth billions of dollars. After living overseas for five years, she moved to Herndon with her spouse, Charlie, in 2022.

Her service also took her inside the workings of government itself. She served as a legislative liaison to Congress for the National Reconnaissance Office, ultimately serving as lead liaison to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. In that role, her job was to take some of the nation's most complex satellite systems and explain them in plain language to congressional staffers so they understood why those systems mattered.

When the ban on transgender service members forced her out of the military in 2025, Sabrina didn't let that define her. She put down roots in the town she'd come to love. She loves Herndon for its diversity, its small-town feel, and its strong sense of community. But she's also seen where it falls short. In 2023, driving down Elden Street, she watched a cyclist get struck by a car. She jumped into action, pulling over and getting the woman out of the road to safety. While she was standing with her, waiting for the ambulance, she questioned why this woman almost lost her life for simply riding a bicycle.

On the Town Council, she'll fight for safer crosswalks, protected bike lanes, transparency, housing people can actually afford, and the green space and trails that stitch Herndon together as a town. She believes that while she was willing to risk her life for her country, no one should have to risk theirs just crossing the street.

In the military, she defined herself as someone who could get the job done. That attitude led to numerous medals, promotions, and accomplishments in her career. As a member of the Town Council, she promises to bring that same attitude, and get to work solving the problems we deal with every day.
